Indie Game Challenge

Celestino Estaban Pizarro, who will be 26 on the 25th of December, is from Seville a tourist city in Spain. He is now doing his M.Phil. in Interactive Technology at Guildhall Interactive University in Plano, a serene town in the heart of Texas, USA, after completing his Masters in the same discipline from his home country. He and his Mexican friend Brendan Manco reside at 5232, Tennyson Parkway. Both of them are gamers who enjoy doing innovative game softwares. They joined the University in June to pursue their careers as game developers in the future. In spite of his busy schedule Celestino finds time for his mountain biking and also gardening which is a passive past time preferred by his friend Brendan.
Indie Game Challenge is an annual contest held to promote amateurs in the interactive entertainment field. This year their focus is on innovative and educative games for children and they have offered a prize money of $100,000 for the winner. All entrants should submit their game in a disc along with a game promoter either in video or audio format by 31st October.

Celestino has been interested in taking part in this challenge for the past 2 years and had almost completed a game named COGS, a puzzle game about machines last year. Unfortunately, he could not send it on time as he was busy with his Master’s Degree examinations. This year he has two of his games at hand i.e: Aah Aah, which is an action game inspired by BASE Jumping and Waker, which is an educative fantasy game where the players have to solve puzzles and break free a child trapped in her dreams. Brendon has advised him to choose the latter for the contest as its aim is to educate children about science theories and help children to digest them better in their classrooms. Even though, first he had decided to do the game using Maya, later he switched to XNA Game Studio, which is a novel software. The local Lazy 8 Studios did the sound and music for the game whereas the promo was done by Brendon in a short video clipping of 2 mins. Celestino can  be contacted on his mobile 2147689950 or by e-mail at cpizarro@guildhall.edu.us
